After being a semi-finalist in ITV's This Mornings Super Sweet competition I decided to set up The Dessert Diva selling cupcakes, cakes, brownies and tablet for local school events. I then went on to have a stall at Kelso Farmers Market every month in the square from 9.30 - 1.30 pm selling cupcakes, Cake by the slice (or whole if you like) Chocolate Fudge Brownies and not forgetting our traditional homemade tablet. The range is continually expanding and now includes various flavours of Brownies as well as Traybakes which includes the ever popular Caramel Shortbread and Aero Slice. Our range also includes a Gluten Free option which is fast becoming popular with everyone. As some bakes do include nuts or gluten we always ask that if anyone has any allergies they let us know so we can advise.
I am continually developing and experimenting with new flavours to keep us current and also so customers continue to come back time and time again. Through building up my clientele at the market, this has helped me progress to celebration cakes and subsequently wedding cakes. The feedback we receive is greatly received and there is nothing more rewarding than seeing someone enjoy one of my cakes it makes it all worthwhile when you see their eyes light up when they take that first bite.
Here at The Dessert Diva we understand completely the importance of using locally sourced produce. Our ethos is to always to source and use as many local ingredients as possible. We want our cakes to be the best you have ever tasted therefore we use the finest ingredients available.
My kitchen has been inspected and passed by Scottish Borders Council Environmental Health Department and I hold the Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate as well as being fully insured my home is also pet free.
